MANU O KUThe manu 'o ku (white ferry tern) were used to guide the navigators to land and an element of the star compass.

HAWAIIAN QUILT PATTERNI created a hawaiian quilt pattern to represent lokelani (damask rose), Maui's official flower. The quilt pattern is also an abstract version of the star compass, placed simmilarly to a full moon rise.

CONSTELLATIONSThe constellations represented are those visible in Lahaina during the summer months to represent the story of Maui harnessing Ka Lā to extend the summer days. Specifically shown, Scorpius which is features a fishhook shape.

HĀHĀLUAThe hāhālua (manta ray) serve as messengers between the ocean and sky.
